ULTA GRATIS RANT

so I work at a bigger volume store and what I find most troubling and baffling is that I work in prestige and I sell cosmetics to women on brands that I have never even gotten to try or receive as gratis.. almost like I get the shit end of the products especially after management gets first pick, Clinique, benefit girls, and the esthetician’s get gratis as well. Or for instance I worked a huge it cosmetics event where I applied makeup applications for guests.. and received one mascara as gratis.. I do know as well that when we do host events the brand reps for that company will leave gratis for the whole store.. never saw it. It’s just upsetting I do all the hard work of selling these products and doing makeup applications and I receive little to nothing for my hard work. I feel really taken advantage of. Idk just my rant, feel free to comment.

I'm going to put this as gently as possible...your compensation for your hard work is literally your paycheck. You are not, nor will you ever be guaranteed gratis. Gratis is just that: a gratuity. And as a brand rep of many years I can tell you with full disclosure that we are often not even given any gratis to give you guys, aside from a few minis. I worked for Too Faced for almost 2 years and any time I would mention gratis for the PBAs, I was told "We can't promise anything". Truth be told, sometimes we brand reps don't even get gratis! I worked for Kiehl's for 6 months and only ever got 1 piece. I wish it were different and we could give you all of the things, but we can't and you shouldn't expect it. Just be happy when you can get it. Also full disclosure, Sephora hoards the gratis so they can give their cast full bags. They're not getting more gratis than you guys, they just don't give it out piece by piece like Ulta does
